St. Barbara is made in a South Tyrolean wood carving. You can choose between three different sizes and three different versions. The wooden figure in 30 cm is made of sycamore maple and the wooden figure in 40 cm and 60 cm is made of lime wood. The finishes are natural, stained and painted in three colors. The figure is painted by hand by our artists. Oil paints are used in the process.According to legend, St. Barbara was the daughter of one of the emperor's bodyguards. At the time of the persecution of Christians, he wanted to marry her to the youth of the imperial court. He locked her up in a tower and there she professed Christianity. He tortured and tormented her to break her from her faith, but this only strengthened her more. Eventually, her own father beheaded her.
That is why she stands for fortitude and steadfastness, which is also one of the reasons why she is the patron saint of artillery.
In the Catholic Church, Barbara is venerated as a saint. The feast day of St. Barbara is December 4th, also called "Barbara's Day".
St. Barbara is one of the 14 emergency helpers. The attribute tower indicates their defensiveness and steadfastness and their behavior of persecution and death. She is thus the patron saint of towers and fortifications.
