Cecilia was a Christian saint, virgin and martyr of the early Church. She is the patron saint of church music, so her attributes are an organ or a violin. In addition, she is often depicted with a sword as an attribute of martyrdom or a rose. In this wood-carved depiction, she holds the organ in her hands.

There is not much reliable information about Cecilia's life, but she is said to have lived as a virgin and martyr in Rome in the 3rd century AD. The virgin Cecilia promised herself Jesus Christ, but she was married by her parents to a pagan youth Valerianus. They led a Joseph's marriage. She converted her husband and brother to Christianity.

They then also took part in the forbidden burials of the executed Christians and were thus themselves captured and executed. Cecilia was found during a persecution of the relatives of the executed and held in boiling hot water, which, however, could not harm her. An executioner then tried to behead her, but did not manage to cut off the head of the saint. So she lived badly wounded for another three days.

This wooden figure of St. Cecilia is available in different sizes. These are from 15 cm to 60 cm. For the figure in 60 cm we use lime wood, for the others sycamore maple is used. There are three different versions. In the painted version, the details are brought out even more. The figure is painted by hand by our artists. You can see how much attention to detail they work with.
